The Ultimate Resource To Find Writing Jobs (27+ Sites)

Finding writing jobs can be very difficult if you don’t know where to look. As a freelance writer for nearly 3 years, I’ve searched through basically every website possible for writing jobs. This list is very comprehensive and includes traditional and non-traditional sites where you can find writing jobs. If you know of a website that I didn’t include, please share in the comments.

Make sure to have your resume and cover letter polished before applying to any writing jobs. This will increase your chances of landing a writing job dramatically.

1. Indeed

Indeed is the largest job site on the internet. It’s always a good place to start because it has the most job listings.

To succeed finding a writing job on Indeed, you need to filter by date, location and other parameters. This will ensure you apply to only jobs that you are eligible for. You can check out the writing jobs on Indeed here.

2. LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the best platform to connect with your potential employers and colleagues. It also has one of the largest job boards on the internet: LinkedIn Jobs.

LinkedIn Jobs leverages your LinkedIn network to tell you which writing jobs you are a fit for. On LinkedIn Jobs you can see:

  • If you have any connections at a company
  • How many people applied for the position
  • The name of the person who posted the job listing

You can use this information to tailor your application and maximize the chances of landing a writing job. .

3. Glassdoor

Glassdoor is one of the most popular job sites and it has a ton of writing jobs posted each day. A great feature in Glassdoor is the quick apply feature.

Once you upload your resume and cover letter, you can apply to dozens of writing jobs automatically.  You can check out the writing jobs on Glassdoor here.

4. ZipRecruiter

ZipRecruiter is a great site to find writing jobs. One of the best features on ZipRecruiter is signing up for their email list. Once you put your email into ZipRecruiter, you will get dozens of writing jobs sent directly to your inbox.

5. AngelList

AngelList is my favorite job site. This is because it has the best companies to work for on there. When you search through other job boards, you have no clue if the company is legitimate and will compensate you fairly.

On AngelList, you can see exactly how much you will get paid for your role and some companies even offer equity in the company. Although there’s very few writing jobs posted on AngelList, it’s still worth looking at from time to time.

6. Freelancewriting.com

Freelancewriting.com is one of the oldest and best resources for finding writing jobs. Although it’s primarily targeted for freelance writers, other writers can use it to find jobs.

On the jobs section, you can see dozens of writing jobs posted each day. All of the writing jobs posted on there are high quality and you can apply on the company website. You can check out the writing jobs on Freelancewriting.com here.

7. Problogger

Problogger is another great job board for writers. On ProBlogger, there are writing jobs posted each day and I’ve landed several previous clients directly from there.

There are some low paying jobs offered on the site, make sure to check compensation at the bottom of each listing before applying to a job.

8. Contentwritingjobs.com

Contentwritingjobs.com is a site where you can get weekly emails that are filled with writing jobs. There’s a few hundred writing jobs posted each month, so it’s a good website to check out from time to time.

They have a $10 monthly membership where you can get a daily email sent to you with all of the available writing jobs. You can check out the writing jobs on Contentwritingjobs.com here.

9. FlexJobs

FlexJobs is one of the best remote-friendly job sites. All of the writing jobs on there are remote and there’s a few hundred posted each month. It’s a membership site, so it’s free to view, but you can’t apply unless you’re a member.

I’ve personally used FlexJobs for a few months and found it valuable. It’s a great resource if you’re someone like me who wants remote-only writing jobs.

10. Upwork

Upwork is the largest freelance platform and there are tons of opportunities to get writing jobs on there. On Upwork, you make a profile and apply for contract work and get paid on the platform.

Some writers do manage to make a full-time income from Upwork, but I’d recommend setting a profile and it can be a good way to make some side income.

11. Remote.co

Remote.co is another remote-friendly website. All of the writing jobs posted on there are remote-only. There’s not as many jobs on there in comparison to other remote sites like FlexJobs, but it’s free.

12. Contently

Contently is the world’s largest premium writer network. Contently brands itself as a company that has the best writers. This means that writers who write for Contently will get paid much better than other sites.

On Contently, you can apply to be a writer and once you’re accepted, you can choose which companies and projects you’d like to work with.

13. Journalismjobs.com

Journalismjobs.com is a site that focuses on providing job resources for people with career aspirations in journalism. This means that there a lot of writing jobs on there.

The writing jobs on this site are more media related. There’s not a ton of jobs posted, but it’s a good place to look at occasionally.

14. WeWorkRemotely

WeWorkRemotely is one of the best remote job sites. If you’re looking to land a high quality, remote and full-time writing position, this is probably your best bet.

The companies that post jobs on WeWorkRemotely are very high quality and they offer salary and compensation for writers. Although there’s not many writing jobs posted each day, it’s still a valuable resource to look at for remote full-time writing jobs.

15. Mediabistro

Mediabistro is a creative job board where media jobs are posted. There are a lot of writing jobs posted on Mediabistro and it can be a great place to check since its not well-known.

16. SimplyHired

SimplyHired is a job search engine that has thousands of writing jobs posted. SimplyHired has a lot less competition that sites like Indeed and ZipRecruiter, so it’s a good place to start.

They have a quick apply feature where you can apply to dozens of writing jobs once you upload your resume and cover letter. There are over 10,000 writing jobs on SimplyHired, you can check them out here.

17. Cold email

Cold emailing is when you reach out to a company directly to ask if they use writers. This is how I find the majority of my clients as a freelance writer.

You can cold email by finding the email address of a company and sending them an email introducing yourself and your writing services.

18. Twitter

Twitter is an incredible place to find writing jobs. There’s one of the strongest writing communities on Twitter and dozens of writing jobs are posted on Twitter.

You can find writing jobs by searching for the terms “hiring writer” in the search box. Make sure to filter by date to find the best and most recent writing jobs to apply for.

19. Monster

Monster is one of the biggest job boards on the internet. On Monster, there’s thousands of writing jobs posted each day. The results can be cluttered, so make sure to filter by date and location.

20. Job.com

Job.com is another job board that has hundreds of writing jobs posted on there. Since it’s not as well known as bigger job boards, there’s less competition on there for writing jobs.

21. CareerBuilder

CareerBuilder is a career development website where there are a ton of free resources on applying for jobs, getting jobs, etc. On CareerBuilder, there are numerous writing jobs that are posted each week.

It’s free and you can apply for writing jobs directly on the employer’s website. You can check out the writing jobs on CareerBuilder here.

22. ContentFly

ContentFly is another website that where writers can apply to and get writing gigs. You can look through the different writing opportunities on the site and choose which ones you’d like to do.

One of the best parts of ContentFly is that you get paid within two days of completing your writing job for a client.

23. Freelance Writer’s Den

The Freelance Writer’s Den is a $25/month online community by Carol Tice. Carol Tice was actually one of the first freelance writers that showed me the opportunity to make money as a freelance writer.

What separates the Freelance Writer’s Den from other communities is that there are numerous freelance writers on there that earn over 6 figures annually. It’s one of the best online writing communities and it has been active for over 10 years.

In the Freelance Writer’s Den, you will get writing opportunities that pay very well along with getting your questions answered by full-time freelance writers. It’s probably the highest earning online writing community.

24. SolidGigs

SolidGigs is a freelance writing platform like Upwork and Fiverr. Instead of spending your time searching for writing jobs, SolidGigs provides them to you. SolidGigs provides users with hand-picked daily writing jobs straight to their inbox.

It’s a membership paid site and the free trial costs $2, the regular pricing is $19/month. The best part of this service is the convenience of getting jobs directly to your inbox. This is a good service for freelance writers that already have clients and don’t want to waste hours searching for work every day.

25. Contena

Contena is one of the more higher quality job websites for writers. On Contena, you can find some of the best paying writing jobs. It’s an invite-only website, but you can still apply to be considered.

Many writers claim to make thousands of dollars each month on the platform. Since it’s a select pool of writers, there’s less competition on writing jobs and they pay very well.

Contena is a membership site, you’ll need to pay to use the website and to continue working with clients on there. It’s worth a look if you’re looking for high quality writing job sites.

26. iWriter

iWriter is a content writing website where writers are paid up to $80 for 500 word articles. There are over 115,000 writers on the website and it can be a good way to get a few side gigs each month.

To get on the platform, you need to submit an application and once you’re approved you’re eligible to start writing content for clients.

27. Fiverr

Fiverr is a great site to find writing jobs on the side. Fiverr is primarily a freelance platform, where you do writing jobs on a contract basis. The majority of writing jobs on Fiverr are gigs and if you learn how to navigate Fiverr, it can be a great way to make an extra few hundred dollars on the side.

Having a profile on Fiverr is a great way to diversify your online presence. Once you establish yourself and get good reviews on Fiverr, you’ll start attracting more jobs on the site.
